Ideas of navigation, location and maritime history play an
important role in the work of internationally renowned sculptor
Terry Thommes. He writes, “As these ancient mariners…moved
over the seas, aids were placed into the sea or on the headlands
to help steer their vessels to safe passage.” His frequently
kinetic work serves as an allegory for finding one’s
location in space. Thommes lives in Stuart, Florida.
