Mensoff and Tauches have collaborated on several installation
projects in and around Atlanta, Georgia, where both artists
attended Georgia State University. This piece, “Sea
Communication (at Cayo Heuso)” references pre-industrial
communication and the history of Key West. The artists write,
“The wind is the element which represents communication.
In various cultures people have sent messages into the air
to be received by the invisible and distant other….
Many messages were sent into the wind, like a prayer or a
wish.”
